A Academic Pathway Advisor is a vital frontline contact for all program students to drive engagement and empower students to achieve their academic and career goals. Collaborates with Pathway team members and faculty to provide academic advice, including course placement and registration, through the first part of the student’s academic career. Will evaluate transfer credits on record and review and approve course waivers to the program requirements under the guidance of program faculty. Provides academic support and guidance throughout the academic year with a minimum of three points of contact, which includes: pre-advise (first 4 weeks of the semester), mid-term (weeks 6-9), and priority registration (weeks 9-16) to his/her caseload to ensure students have the best opportunity to achieve their educational goals. Characteristics and ResponsibilitiesAdvise program students with class selection; assess scores/GPA as appropriate; review transcript and program plans; and teach students how to registerDemonstrate equity of treatment with all student concerns.Advise program students on academic decisions and career development.Meet with program students within your academic pathway on suspension and complete a Monitored Academic Plan (MAP) that includes courses and a corrective action plan. Explain Academic Plan and other planning documents to students. Provide Financial Aid implications to students on suspension Identify and refer students in need of additional academic resources, career planning, personal or financial counseling, and/or special needs to appropriate Pathway team member(s) Remain current and knowledgeable regarding MATC transfer credit policies and agreements and graduation requirements for Pathway programs to advise students in these areas. Ensure delivery of excellent advising customer service, including face-to-face, telephone, electronic modes, and web-conferencing.

Admissions- Help all new and continuing students applying to the college by guiding them online and processing in person applications, collecting documents such as transcripts, and set up testing appointments.Financial aid- Help all new and continuing students with applying for financial aid by guiding them through the online applications, answer questions, collect verification documentation and help problem solve financial aid inquiries..Registration- Help all new and continuing students register for classes towards their academic programs by guiding them online and in person registration, answer questions and problem solve according to the rules and regulations of the college.-Assist with potential graduates and maintain academic records.-maintain team building and leaderships skills with co-workers in various departments within the college-Follows FERPA rules and procedures
