I have over 30 years of healthcare experience across various sectors of Health and Ancillary Product Development, Compliance, Underwriting, Administration and Sales. I take enormous pride in my work and continuously expanding my knowledge base. My first position in the insurance business was in the accounting department at Group Underwriters, Inc. in Georgia where I learned insurance accounting from the ground up. While at GUI, I moved up the corporate ladder and within a few years, I had been promoted in several divisions of the company. When an underwriting opportunity presented itself in California in 1986, I was accepted and managed the underwriting team for a health plan approved in 47 states. My first Vice President position was at C & A West in San Jose, CA in 1990, where I managed an administrative staff of 120 employees for a multi-state health plan. I presided over all administrative functions from new business underwriting to claims payments and had single signature check-signing authority of $1 Million. After my 4th child was born in 1992, I went to work at my own firm, Toste & Associates, where I worked to build a large California General Agency.In 2005, I moved to Reno, NV and worked as a consultant for a Medical-Malpractice startup in Nevada. I also ran my own General Agency firm, Dental Markets, Inc. until 2010 when I sought retirement. After finding out that retirement was boring for me, I accepted a position with Prominence Health Plan in August 2011. My experience as a Senior Large Group Account Manager at Prominence Health Plan provided me the opportunity to work with large public entities such as Carson City, Nye County, Eureka County, Lyon County and Carson City School District just to name a few. As their Account Manager, I managed the renewal process for these groups including negotiations with Underwriting and maintained a 95% average retention rate during my 7+ year tenure. In August of 2019, I accepted a position with Asurea Wholesale Insurance Services in Reno, Nevada, as the Director of Employee Benefits. My responsibilities includes managing the employer benefits of Asurea's clients. This includes marketing and managing renewals as well as providing complex consulting services. We provide platinum level service to all of our clients including a toll-free customer service line. Our mission is one of growth in Nevada and California with expansion plans in other states.
