Since I was 3 years old I knew I was going to be a teacher. I remember sitting on the fold down seat in our station wagon telling my family that someday I wanted to be a bus. They laughed and asked if I meant a bus driver. I was frustrated, I didn't have the vocabulary at the time but I knew that big yellow bus took my siblings somewhere that I wanted to be a part of! My goals never changed as I grew up. I graduated high school a year early and started college at the age of 16 on my journey to become a teacher. Now, 28 years later I still love what I do. Now I have degrees from Ohio University, Wilmington College, and now the University of Dayton plus many hours at Lourdes University, Muskingum College, and Ashland University. My superintendent asked me three times to get my principal’s license but I felt my greatest impact would be in the classroom. Finally in 2018 I knew it was time! I am completing my University of Dayton training and will take my principal’s license exam on April 7. I have served many roles in school; team leader, DLT, BLT, TBT, Tech Rep, Ohio Master Teacher, and much more. The expectation of being an assistant principal to be a support to teachers, students, and the community is so exciting. I am eager to begin the next phase in my calling to be an educator.
