Working in an interdisciplinary underwater mobile network research lab under the advisement of Dr. Aijun Song with efforts in the following fields: digital communications, networking, and marine robotics.Activities:- Collaborate with other undergraduate students to develop a compact low power, low cost acoustic modem for underwater robots. Learning embedded systems programming throughout this process.- Perform simulation of tentative electric circuits to evaluate practicality and performance using SPICE software.- Solder components to printed circuit boards (PCB) and learned how to use software to design custom PCBs.- Attend field experiments that test the performance of developed/modified applications at Lake Tuscaloosa.- Learn about digital signal processing techniques and their practical applications.

Assists students with physical concepts and mathematical circuit analysis problems. Facilitates the development of practical, related study stills. Conducts one-on-one and small group tutoring sessions for 6 hours per week.

Worked with TVA's Nuclear Performance Monitoring and Diagnostics (PM&D) engineers during Summer 2024 to develop applications to increase work efficiency.Activities:- Built 2 new applications using Microsoft Power Apps, that interface with nuclear plants' monitoring data, to create easy-to-use user interfaces for TVA's Nuclear and Power Operations engineers and site engineers.- The first application was a model request app for a better collection and organization of customers' requests to create/modify the Advanced Pattern Recognition (APR) models used in the PM&D center for trending data and evaluating conditions of systems/components. The app enhances the clear communication and prioritization needed for better monitoring models to fulfill the power plants' needs.- The second application was a model comparison app to automate the process of comparing APR models and points between different power sites and units. The app uses internal code to determine the similarities and differences between the names and descriptions and highlights the list in color for easy visibility, saving Nuclear PM&D engineers around 60 hours per year from time spent to manually compare.
