Throughout my career, I have dedicated myself to helping seniors maintain their independence and age in place with dignity. There is no greater gift I can give another human being and I personally find it very rewarding. Demonstrating compassion and respect, I help maximize people’s quality of life as a caring patient advocate.I have worked with seniors, their families and caregivers in a variety of settings, helping them navigate resources as a medical social worker, mental health counselor, clinical case manager and social service coordinator. I use a strengths-based approach to help people take the next step to develop, regain and maintain capabilities.Experienced assisting seniors with complex medical conditions including dementia, I employ the highest standards of care to assess, intervene and evaluate their needs. I am very perceptive and notice when a person’s mental/emotional status is affecting, or being affected by, their physical issues. I then apply therapeutic and supportive strategies, and make referrals for additional services to treat the whole person. Recognizing the interdependence of cultural, psychological and economic forces that can impact a person’s quality of life, I focus on enhancing each person’s overall well-being. I take pride in my work and making a difference in people’s lives, no matter how small my contribution. I am a fixer who can resolve problems. As a valuable member of the care team, I collaborate to coordinate services keeping the patients’ best interests at heart. My colleagues, managers and clients have always considered me a caring, dependable professional who does the right thing. I balance the needs of the patient with adhering to company guidelines and policies. I earn the trust of others through my honesty, transparency and being a good listener. People always feel that they have been heard and understood when they talk with me.
