I work with 18 or more patients with varying conditions that require different treatment plans. I aid the entire medical team in all regards, some duties include: splinting, blood draws, IV insertions, critical care aid and CPR.

Over the two years my lab and I contributed to the ever growing scientific field, specifically in electrophysiology studies in the nervous system. Our work focused on improving technique methods as well as the importance of understanding the molecular and cellular make up of cells. I have published a paper as well as learned the importance of collaboration across various fields, patience, and have further developed critical thinking skills.

My role as the disaster action team coordinator is to oversee various aspects of our disaster relief program that commonly responds to house fires and natural disaster in the Chicagoland area. My duties include client intake for past fires, responding to active fires, volunteer management and engagement. I am privileged to be apart of an organization that aids families and members of our community during their devastating situations.

As Dr. Wan’s dental assistant I have learned many aspects of dentistry that have been able to improve the lifestyle and smiles of hundreds of patients. I have learned patience’s, resiliency and patient side manners/care. I’ve first handedly seen how the oral system influences the health of the rest of the body and due to Dr. Wans’ medical background we conducted many physicals for the children of our community. Here, I’ve seen the significance of both dentistry and medicine in one’s life.

I researched under Dr. Jennifer Merisch’s project with the partnership with University Washington‘a Genomic Education. My research consisted of studying the genome of d. takahashii contig. 4. I determined the protein sequence with focus on multiple life dependent genes and later created a report regarding the exact location of the gene for each protein. My research was then submitted to the University and the University of Washington will publish my report along side other students when all contig’s have been annotated. During my research, I have learned how to master many different types of computer systems: blastn, blastx

My roles include searching for Western Electric speakers around the United State and reaching out for more information ultimately setting up an in person meeting. Clients varied from companies, small businesses to families. Here I learned how to professionally communicate with others, in a macro and micro way, while using rapport to ultimately set up a meeting.
