The Business Development department was created in 2007 and I was privileged to be involved from the start. Citizens received a grant to build Middle Mile Fiber in Carroll County, Wythe County, Patrick County and parts of Montgomery County to connect to the Fiber we had in Floyd. After building the Middle Mile fiber - we were able to provide Last Mile Fiber to Schools, Hospitals and Industrial Parks to benefit the communities that were not being served by fiber before that time. My position as an Account Executive is to find the businesses with a need for Fiber services such as Video Surveillance, Video Conferencing or the ability to Network multiple locations and multiple services within their organization. We are able to provide Voice, Video and Data over our fiber.

I spent the first 7 years at Citizens taking care of Residential Services for our customers - primarily telephone and internet services. We transitions from Dial-Up Internet to DSL during those years and I trained several new Customer Service Representative on the services we sold and the billing system that we used. When we started building Fiber to the Premise services I was eager to learn what new services could be offered and I transitioned into the Business Development Department which was a brand new department for Citizens.

I truly enjoyed serving on the Board of Directors for the Floyd Economic Development Authority for the past 4 years. During my term, we focused on the development of the Floyd Growth Center to accommodate growing businesses in Floyd. That campus can hold up to 4 businesses or several smaller businesses depending on the need. I loved getting to know my fellow Board members and learning from their experience and expertise.

I have served on multiple sub-committees and held various Board seats over the past few years. I was on the Executive Board for 9 of the 10 years with 3 Years served as President of the Board. I work full-time for Citizens Telephone and held this position at the Chamber to represent the Traditional businesses in Floyd County.

Floyd Va

I was a teachers assistant for two special needs children in Kindergarten during my sons first year of school. I wanted to be able to spend more time with my family and be involved in my child's education. I gained a tremendous amount of respect for the teachers who are trained to work in the Special Needs field and also for the parents of Special Needs children. I learned as much from those children as they learned from me.

This was a family business. I helped in establishing the store from store renovations to stocking the store and hiring the employees. I managed Payroll and Accounting for the store for the duration of my employment. I gained some very useful experience in management and the knowledge of hardware and building needs and established a name for myself in the business community in Floyd.

Processed Syllibi, tests and other class related documents for six professors and the Chair of the Division of Business. Organized their schedules and supervised work-study students each semester.

Greater Atlanta Area

Started out as an Office Assistant just out of College, moved into the Accounting Department for the Corporate Office and soon moved into Retail Sales. After only a year in Sales, I was given a Store of my own in Downtown Atlanta in the Candler Building which is one of the oldest set of Law Offices in Atlanta. This location was central to many other High Rises like the Georgia Pacific building and the Equitable building with many other professional services. I left Wolf Camera to marry my husband and relocate in Floyd VA.
