Responsible for instrumentation, control systems and electrical engineering for clients in California. Clients are primarily food and beverage and projects are liquid process systems (CIP, pasteurization, water treatment, blending, batch processing, etc.).

Commissioning coordinator in an industrial electrical, instrumentation and controls group under the design and construction management group for new construction at the Orange County Sanitation District. Using my previous experience, evaluated and optimized District commissioning specifications and internal procedures by eliminating redundancy and designing an adaptive process that is efficient for quality contractors, but expands proportionally to test failures. Coordinating contractors, consultants, internal inspections staff, internal programming staff, and engineering to achieve efficient testing and minimal problems after startup of newly constructed systems.

Managed electrical, I&C, and automation projects and onboarded, trained and led the programming team for construction on medium and large industrial projects. Our group was the self performing electrical, I&C, and automation team for the entire construction subsidiary of an international company. The new programming team provided consistent reliable support that reduced programming and commissioning costs. Provided consulting services to the design team including cost estimates, expert technical design, network design, and constructability review of contract documents. Developed project plan, specification, budget, and schedule for complex prime SCADA projects as well as the electrical, I&C, and automation portion of new construction projects. Projects were mostly water and wastewater treatment facilities, but also included manufacturing and environmental projects. Was awarded many sole source repeat client work due to proficient technical service, my ability to communicate complex topics clearly, and our highly motivated team.

Part of a small engineering team responsible for support of new projects and maintenance. Programmed HMI, PLC, CMMS, SPC, OEE, scheduling, and recipe management systems. Responsibilities included control engineering, electrical design, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering. Organized contractors, procurement and more. I also had lead engineering responsibility for the recycled water treatment plant. The team also upgraded the brewery SCADA platform from obsolete hardware and software providing improved process visibility and increasing production.

Performed in various project roles including electrical design, I&C design, and automation engineer. Many projects required performing multiple roles. All projects on which I led the effort were completed on time and within budget for my discipline. As automation engineer, implemented new SCADA systems or upgrades. Effectively led HMI programming, PLC programming, security configuration, network hardware configuration, historian configuration, reporting, all factory and field testing, commissioning, writing O&M manuals, and creating as-built control descriptions. Designed instrumentation & controls systems as part of a multi-discipline team for new construction and optimization projects. Developed control descriptions, specifications, P&ID drawings, control system network architecture drawings (using CADD). Developed and utilized database tools to store and simplify development of the design. Designed electrical distribution and control systems per the NEC as part of a multi-discipline team. Developed single lines, layouts, installation details, schedules, lighting design (Title 24), and submittal review. Developed custom database tools to assist in creation of cable, conduit and raceway schedules with appropriate sizing and derating.

Supported electrical construction of an aluminum smelter in Fjarðáal, Iceland. Responsibilities included developing work packages, QA/QC per CE, developing turnover packages, developing and maintaining database tracking tools for all cable, maintained measurement & test equipment using a database tracking tool. Gaining deep understanding of our Oracle database system, was able to efficiently inventory site wide cable and predict a critical shortage of material, giving us enough time to order before construction would be delayed.
