I'm highly interested in the relations between people-products-surroundings. How can we use design to feel connected to our surroundings and the products we surround ourselves with? I like to make use of the intangible as atmosphere and identity and translate this into tangible products in a subtle way.It is my aim to design products that people feel connected with and that bring about lifelong relationships. In my designs I investigate how I can make use of elements that evoke emotional attachment. Shape, material, detail and colour are my tools. I have a structured way of working.Unit 30 Ceramic Product DesignSince 2010 I work together with Willem Van Landeghem under the name Unit 30 - Ceramic Product Design. We design and develop refined ceramic products, always with the intention to create an emotional attachment between the product and its user. For instance by using elements of a specific surroundings, or identity of an organization and translate this in an abstract and sensitive manner in our designs.We work both by commission and self-initiated.Recent clients: Coffee United, the North Netherlands Symphony Orchestra (NNO).Educational backgroundWith a Bachelor Degree (BA) from ArtEZ Arnhem I have experience in designing interior products and fashion accessories. During this study I followed a one-year course traditional bag making at SVGB Nieuwegein.At the Royal College of Art London (MA) I extended my work field with projects related to the public domain.
