João Neves Moutinho was born in Paris, France, in 1980. He received the B.Sc., M.Sc. and PhD degree in Electrical Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto, Portugal. Since 2005, he has been working in the Department of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, University of Porto, as a researcher and invited Assistant Professor. During some of this time, he was also a consultor in intellectual property in a Technology Transfer Office - UP Inovação. He was part of CCGs directors board and head of the Urban and Mobile Computing department at CCG - University of Minho, dealing with Urban Intelligence (Smart Cities), Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), Mobility, Autonomous Driving, Mobile Computing (IoT), and Active and Healthy Ageing. Currently, he is the Business and Internationalization director in the BUILT Collaborative Laboratory for the Future Built Environment. He is also an expert in electroacoustics, psychoacoustics and accessibility for visually impaired people. He has distinguished several times either for academic achievements, either for entrepreneurship habilities. In 2010, in his master's thesis, he won the “Maria Cândida da Cunha” award, in 2015 he was elected as one of the best PhD thesis of the year (Cum Laude) and in 2016 he won several business idea awards such as the national best business idea award by ANI (the Portuguese national innovation agency). He is also the first author in several international journal and conference papers. Currently, he is also an invited speaker in several conferences and congresses and author in several magazine periodic articles in themes such as Smart Cities, Mobility and Logistics.
