With Sustainable Development becoming more and more mainstream and no longer an option in today’s world, it is fundamental that it should be integrated into core strategy/planning first, and then rolled out throughout all organizations and areas. I am working with eco efficiency, cleaner production, greening the supply chain, sustainability reporting, greening hotels and other turism related business. I hold a certification as Green Globe auditor, ( Green Globe is the global travel and tourism industries’ certification program for sustainable tourism), am a qualified trainner and have a LEED AP certification.

Provide consultancy in SEA, EIA, Green Building Certification, Waste Management, Energy Audit, Carbon Emissions Reduction, Climate Change, Sustainable Development, Industrial Symbiosis.Amongst other projects I was part of a waste management expert team which conducted an Integrated WMP focused on source reduction, recycling, treatment and disposal. This plan provided a policy and program direction for the next 20 years (up to 2030). It addressed in particular the delineation of the types, amount and sources of waste predicted to be generated; identification of efficient and safe waste transport, treatment, disposal, support, and recycling technologies; strategies for the reduction of both amount and rate of waste generation. The principles of Industrial Symbiosis were applied to the project, and the foundations for the establishment of a IS network was set.

Work in: EIA, Sustainability services (carbon footprint, carbon mitigation,cleaner production, pollution prevention), environmental audits, CEMP, EMS, LEED, etc.I managed the development of several large Environmental Impact Assessments in Bahrain and Jordan and was responsible for the development of a Construction Environmental Management Plan (CEMP) for a large project of strategic national importance in Bahrain. I was also an integral part of a team that audited the CEMP of a major Industrial Effluent Treatment Plant in Abu Dhabi. In the interest of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), I developed and implemented a series of sessions to raise environmental awareness session of children within several schools in Bahrain. These CSR initiatives have also included heritage activities with the participation of UNESCO and the Museum of Bahrain

Undertook a feasibility study to implement a bio-energy system in Portugal based on Industrial Symbiosis concepts. Conducted analysis of the conditions (economic, social and environmental) to implement a small scale power plant fuelled on biomass waste derived from the companies main activities. An assessment was made on available technology, legislative conditions, raw materials technical conditions, political willingness, economical outcome, stakeholder etc. A cost-benefit analysis was then developed. This project aimed to expand beyond the two leading companies’ universe, towards a decentralized energy system, with the municipality playing a catalytic role

Implemented the requirements of ISO 14001:2004 environmental management systems in a 14 km long, civil construction project in Portugal. Analyzed measurements of air, noise (including vibration), water pollution and waste in order to asses for compliance with environmental regulations/ standards and made recommendations for appropriate action. Conducted field investigations to establish environmental conditions for soil, water and air quality.Diligently conducted audits to evaluate the environmental performance of particular activities and several audits under the ISO 14001:2004 standards (13 audits), ISO 9001:1999 and OSHAS, producing reports recommending actions for compliance.Effectively conducted training sessions to teach field staff about their environmental obligations when undertaking civil construction activities. Produced monthly environmental reports on compliance with regulations and standards relating to air, noise, water and waste.
