A commercially astute finance leader with over 15 years of diverse experience covering valuation, management accounting, financial accounting and strategy. JP has experience in the Resources (mining) and FMCG (beverages) industries at both operations and corporate levels. He values relationships and places a priority on their development and preservation. He brings a culture of care for his team is passionate about seeing their ambitions realised. JP has worked at BHP for over ten years in a wide variety of Finance roles across the Coal (2011 – 2013, 2018 – present) and Iron Ore (2013 – 2018) divisions prior to his current role as Head of Finance for BHP Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA). During this time, he has sought to bring an “owner’s mindset” to decision making, strives for simplicity and abhors waste in all forms. Over the past few years he has had the opportunity to lead a number of key significant reviews in BHP including a business transformation program and recently lead the accounting and finance stream of the BHP Coal Divestment Review that resulted in the announced sale of BMC to Stanmore Resources. JP brings a high level of energy and enthusiasm to everything he does and has the ability to engage and inspire those around him to deliver on a shared purpose. JP completed his undergraduate qualifications in Accounting, Finance and Economics at the Nelson Mandela University in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, augmented by an Honours degree in Finance from the University of Johannesburg. He is a qualified Chartered Global Management Accountant and is an associate of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA UK).
