About Jane Potter Baumer
A lifelong fascination with voice is what initially piqued my interest in the study of Speech Language Pathology. Singing was my first career; as a young aspiring vocalist, I was fortunate to sing in a small ensemble that performed at Carnegie Hall and other venues in the U.S. and Europe. I went on to sing on a recording that received the 1990 Grammy Award for Best Engineered Recording, and later taught music in college, K-12, and private studio settings. My interest in the art and science of voice led to pursuing SLP as a career. As a graduate student at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, I completed 39 hours of coursework and two 6-credit, 14-week internships in medical and educational settings. I graduated with my Master's degree in SLP in December, 2015, with a 3.9 GPA.The opportunity to improve the lives of others through SLP draws me to the field; whether it’s helping someone with articulation disorders, autism, or any one of the myriad conditions SLPs treat, I want to know that I’m making a difference.
