About Julio Peña Iii

Julio works full time with Good Shepherd Services supporting after school programs & community centers in Brooklyn and Bronx providing administrative, HR, and on-site assistance to better serve staff and the community. He was also an active member of agencies Leadership, Equity, Accountability & Diversity (LEAD) Council which advocates and creates equitable and just spaces for all. Previously, Julio worked in an alternative high school-based setting for ten years with at-risk students who were in danger of dropping out of school providing counseling services and paid internships. Julio holds a Master degree in Public Administration from John Jay College, Bachelor degree in Puerto Rican & Latino Studies from Brooklyn College and an Associate degree from Kingsborough Community College. He has also completed an Executive Education Certification for Non-Profit Professionals from Columbia Business School in Leadership Development. In his community, Julio volunteers his time as Chairperson of Brooklyn Community Board #7, and was the former Chairperson for Brooklyn's Neighborhood Advisory Board #7 responsible for helping to identify the needs of the Sunset Park community and allocates federal Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) funding, and is the Board Chair for Neighbors Helping Neighbors, Inc.
