At Plugwise, we build smart solutions for fields ranging from smart metering to smart heating.I develop the company's embedded and Cloud software. This role is a mix of maintenance and new development.

At ADLink, I worked on the company's DDS implementation.

I was the lead embedded systems programmer at Plugwise.I implemented and supported Home Energy Management Systems, coordinating both Plugwise's proprietary ZigBee-network and the ZigBee Home Automation standards, Thermal Control Systems using both the OpenTherm and ZigBee HA standards, and Smart Metering solutions based on the Dutch Smart Meter (DSMR) protocol.All these systems both actuated appliances and measured and logged data which was made accessible remotely and pushed to centralized data portals. Additionally, I maintained REST+XML-based APIs accessible both locally and remotely.The languages of choice were Lua where possible and C where necessary. Embedded devices ran either Linux (OpenWRT) or were based on a ZigBee stack.As a lead developer I was also responsible for coaching other developers, training new hires, reviewing code, designing new systems, releasing soft- and firmware, providing development planning and estimates, troubleshooting, and initial debugging.

I tutored groups of pupils aged 13-16 English and Mathematics.I enjoyed teaching, but terminated the employment when I moved to Delft, to better pursue my studies there.
