Biochemist working on targeted delivery of Nucleic acid therapeutics in the lab of Professor Jonathan Hall. I am currently investigating an antisense oligonucleotide as a potential treatment for the rare disease (EPP). To this end I am designing, synthesising and testing oligo conjugates with splice switching activity. In collaboration with disease experts at the Triemli hospital in Zurich we’re evaluating these novel compounds for their therapeutic benefits in an effort to develop a treatment for EPP.Outside of the wet lab, I have written research grant applications, volunteered in public outreach at the ‘Scientifica’ science fair in Zurich 2023, and organised and hosted the mini symposium for doctoral students at the institute of pharmaceutical sciences in autumn of 2023.As study director for our animal work I’ve successfully written and managed our animal licenses and correspond with the federal authorities.I take an active role in undergraduate teaching such as giving lectures, teaching practical courses and supervising thesis project students. In addition to my work in the Hall lab, I’ve founded and currently manage a small start-up that developes the ‘oligowizard’ software suite - an online toolbox providing computational tools and support for nucleic acid chemists.
