Design Engineer specialising in Ballistic Protection and Power Packs:• Design: Successfully completed project milestones on the N35 4x4 and 6x6 (Jais) vehicle development project for NIMR Automotive as both the ballistic protection and power pack design engineer.• Research and Development: Developed and optimised ballistic solutions using different material types and designs for add-on armour solutions and ballistic grills.• Teamwork: Participated in business engagements with countries across the globe (e.g. South Africa, Canada, UK, Germany, UAE, Pakistan, France, Austria) and with companies like NIMR Automotive, Caterpillar Defence, Cummins, Steyr Motors, ZF, Allison, Tencate, AxleTech and others.• Technical documentation: Compiled high-quality technical documentation for internal and external use. This included design reports, test reports and instructions, presentations and training documentation.• Project Management: Managed all aspects of ballistic testing on projects throughout the life cycle of the project. This typically included defining the scope of work, costing for design development, testing and product support.• Testing: Certification of vehicle ballistic protection according to user requirements (mostly STANAG 4569 using the AEP-55 Volume 1) in collaboration with ARMSCOR (South Africa) and TNO (Netherlands).• Market Research: Conducted research on future market trends on armoured vehicles and used it as input to develop a product strategy for the RG31 range of vehicles.• Leadership: Part of the mentorship program for junior engineers, assisting them with projects and exposing them to engineering best practises within the workplace.

Design Engineer of ballistic protection solutions and power pack sub-systems of armoured vehicles.• Research and Development: Developed a Cooling System in collaboration with Gallay Limited (UK) for a 600 hp power pack which was later used for a high-value vehicle development project.• Process Improvement: Optimised the process to evaluate the Expected Protection Capability (EPC) of a vehicle using CAD software (Creo Elements) and MATLAB, reducing time and also increasing the accuracy.• Product Support: Supported the South African National Defence Force by designing Jigs and Tools to improve maintenance tasks. Did concept studies to extend the life of the SAMIL fleet of trucks by evaluating different power pack options.• Testing: Conducted experiments on armoured steel, analysing different weld types to optimise structural integrity during landmine explosions as well as the effect of heat on armoured steel with regards to ballistic protection. • CAD Design: Supported project technical data packs using Creo & Windchill.
