My expertise covers mainly Geographic Information Systems. Recently I have been working mostly with road network analysis and manipulation, and other map database maintenance and update tasks, while working as a Geographic Analyst at HERE. My main tasks include sourcing, manipulation and general maintenance tasks of the HERE location cloud data. I work at the Finnish Regional Map Content team, but I have also been participating some global level projects relating to map sources, content and cartographic representation of the map data. Recently I have also been creating teaching material and been teaching geoprocessing & spatial analysis as a part time trainer.Academically I have been working mostly with Digital Elevation Models and climate related data and analysis. Applications I use are related to geomorphology, hydrogeography, paleogeography and measuring and determining various topographic attributes for spatial modelling applications.I do like teaching and I have worked at the university about a decade, teaching on many courses of physical geography and GIS at the university of Helsinki. I consider field courses and geomorphological excursions as my favourite things, but I also enjoy lecturing, laboratory work and arranging practicals.I am acquainted with scientific publication process both as an author and a peer reviewer. My publications include original research articles, research reports, educational material and also popular texts. I have had positions of trust at the International Geographical Union (IGU; Secretary of the national committee) and in the Geographical Society of Finland (Board member and notary).Specialties: Manipulation, analysis and visualization of GIS data - especially digital terrain data. Integration of field, laboratory and GIS data. Teaching and leading of field trips and excursions.
