After having worked for over twenty five years as a patent attorney, I have a wide experience of developing cost effective strategies for protecting innovations and other commercial developments with patents, designs and other forms of IP for clients with differing business needs. I work with universities in the UK and Europe, multinationals, SMEs, as well as with entrepreneurs. I have experience of obtaining patent protection in the UK and around the world (e.g. in Europe, US, China, and Australia) for chemical, biotech, mechanical, and medical inventions.I have experience of guiding clients on how to balance risk against cost when searching for third party patent rights, for example prior to launching a new product or when making an acquisition.I have successfully represented clients in negotiations concerning infringement of patents. I also have experience of successfully representing clients at oral proceedings at the EPO concerning issues at examination, opposition and appeal.
