It has been instrumental in the regeneration of the surrounding Cultural Quarter which has become an increasingly attractive place for people to live and creative organisations to thrive.Phoenix has ambitious plans to extend its venue and double its impact over the coming years to 440,000 participants a year. The £7 million project – Phoenix 2020 - will see the charity build a new art gallery, add two further cinema screens, an expanded café and more spaces for education. With support from Arts Council, Leicester City Council and others, much of the funding has been raised but there remains a gap. John is keen to talk to businesses who may be interested in supporting the charity’s plans.John specialises in business development and has 30 years of experience in management, education, innovation, fundraising and partnership development. He has the experience of leadership and governance roles in education, charity and “not-for-dividend” enterprises. John is a Member of the Institute of Directors and lives in Leicester. Interests and passions outside work include Leicester Tigers, swimming and Leicester’s diverse cultural scene. His early career in water systems research included many highlights: travelling in China, Russia and Europe, publishing in international journals and leading a 10-year contract to redevelop London’s drinking water system.
