About Joe Dawson

Focused on building and operating new strategic initiatives to scale culturally-rooted brands. I'm passionate about the emotional connection and lasting impact of brands and products on everyday life. I specialize in establishing a balance between creativity and commerce to execute memorable user experiences, while fostering collaboration with cross-functional teams. Since 2016 I have directed strategic, brand-led product initiatives to drive the Sonos business. Most recently the creation, launch and the scaling of Sonos Radio - the company first recurring revenue platform and now the #1 most listened to service on Sonos. In my prior work at Sonos, I established an incubator that innovated new product platforms connecting the brand to culture and serving as growth verticals for the business - such as Limited Edition hardware, design collaborations, an accessories business and content app enhancements to drive engagement. This was founded out of my work leading Global Brand Experience which centered on owned retail, content & social media, creator relations, partnerships & licensing, and establishing the company's first-ever Social Impact platform. Before joining Sonos, I held VP and Group Director roles at two agencies managing global teams that led integrated marketing, creative development, partnership strategy, and experiential for companies such as AB InBev, Coca-Cola, DIAGEO, Converse, NBA, Google and The North Face. Outside of work, I am on the Board of Directors of Urban Arts Partnership and the Advisory Boards of Creative Time and Young Voices Big Sound. I’m a Detroit native and enjoy travel, biking, fly fishing, tai chi, music, good food, and always strive to keep my hands busy. I earned my degree in Entrepreneurship and International Business from Georgetown, with a minor in Music Studies.
