Fund manager for the Edelweiss Alpha Fund, which is a category III AIF. Joining on the back of an acquisition of the Alpha Fund from Ambit Advisors I was given a very strong mandate of developing an Absolute Return Fund returning 12% to 15% (pre fees, pre taxes)under all market circumstances.Our annualised return of 13.24% in FY 17 - 18 came along with no negative months, Sharpe ratio in excess of 5 & an annualised volatility of 1.2%. This enabled us to scale the fund from Inr 300 Cr to currently as we stand in the region of Inr 2000Cr resulting in a 7x growth within 15 months. While performance is an obvious barometer for investments, my interactions with corporate treasuries, UHNIs, listed companies & startups have greatly enhanced my soft skills and honed my sales skills to the T!

Post graduation from ISB (Hyderabad) where I specialized in Finance and Strategy, I started my own trading consulting firm which specialised in developing algorithmic strategies for HNIs and Individual traders. NSE was warming up the ideas of complex algos and had made it relatively easy to get your algo approved via brokers.This experience later morphed into me running my own private LLP with me running proprietary market neutral strategies. The past experience of conceptualizing, developing & deploying these strategies in the Indian Derivative market was very helpful and we were able to generate superior risk adjusted returns than what is typically attributed to Market Neutral strategies.

In the five years of being a Proprietary Trader I had the privilege of working across a wide spectrum of Equity strategies in India. While at Edelweiss FS my concentration was on long short and special situations, at Motilal Oswal FS (Associate Vice President) I headed the entire quant desk developing long short, market neutral and intraday strategies. Significantly, I was able to thrive in the bear market of 2008 through my long short experience and catch on to the ensuing bull market of 2009 sometime in the first leg up.
