    During my time at Staples I have worked in all departments including: Check out, Business Machines, Office Supplies but chiefly worked as a member of the Copy and Print Centre. Role Outline:- I had to utilise the various types of hardware and software available to me as an associate to accommodate the needs of the customer. This included the operation of 6 different printers and the accompanying software. This was all learned on the job under the pressure of a demanding customer deadlines.- I had to manage the influx of customer jobs i.e. arranging collection times, communicating the specifics of any given job to colleagues and organising and prioritising jobs based on the estimated time to completion. This role gave me an opportunity to really test my time management skills resulting in an improved ability to cope with multiple deadlines all at once.- In producing documents and professional prints for business people, artists, graphic designers and so on, quality control and an unforgiving eye for detail is essential. Key Achievements:- Over my time at Staples I received numerous letters of gratitude and even gifts from customers who were extraordinarily impressed with my inclination to go the extra mile and cheerful attitude. - As a member of the three part copy and print centre team, I helped to drive sales to 11% growth over two years.- Working in the print centre I had a lot of latitude to try new ideas and experiment with new ways of presenting products and services. This fostered an environment of constant re-evaluation which helped us to react quickly to an ever changing set of customer and company demands.- I have greatly improved my ability to sell, negotiate and to handle objections from customers.

    This role involved meeting and greeting prospective students and their families and/or friends on open days for the university. It also involved inspiring younger students who came onto campus to think about further education and all that it can offer you. Development Point:- This role helped to develop interpersonal skills as well as public speaking. On several occasions I took groups of 50 -150 people on tours around the beautiful Keele campus. This was a personal victory for me as before this role I was uncertain that I could engage with that many people at a time. It was actually a lot of fun in the end.
