  • Movi Llc
    Co-Owner & Cmo/Cfo
Movi Llc Feb 2021 - Present
I was brought on to MOVI to help them grow their existing business that was sort of going nowhere at the time due to a lack of know-how, time, and resources. While MOVI has an incredible product, their story just wasn't being told or executed in an effective way. After joining MOVI in Feb 2021, I spent the first month revamping nearly all aspects of MOVI's infrastructure, including migrating to a more robust Shopify website, implementing more efficient processes, elevating MOVI’s social media presence, and turning MOVI from a product into a brand. In month two, I started an online marketing campaign on Facebook and Instagram for MOVI which resulted in over $10k in sales and a 4x ROAS. In month three we did over $20k in sales and our sales have continued to explode month-over-month since that time. In fact, we ran out of inventory (over 4,000 hats) by month 5 while we were waiting for our next shipment to arrive - which was delayed over 3 months thanks to COVID!I've also worked very closely with our factory in China to make a couple small but important improvements to our hats based on customer feedback and have helped MOVI expand their reach all across the United States. MOVI is an up-and-coming brand that is disrupting the hat industry. Check us out at www.movihats.com.
  • North Lodge Holdings
    Founder & Ceo
North Lodge Holdings 2015 - Present
North Lodge Holdings is a private fund that I use to invest in small businesses, startups, and real estate projects. As the sole manager and investor of this fund I oversee all aspects of the projects North Lodge Holdings is involved in.North Lodge does not invest by simply writing a check. I've done that in the past and lost my money every time. Instead, we provide "hands-on" assistance which can include daily mentoring, funds, software, and other resources I've compiled over my nearly 25 years in business that can help businesses grow at a faster pace and scale at a greater multiple.Nearly all the projects we are involved in come to us via word of mouth in my tight knit network. If you have a project you'd like me to look at, please message me here on LinkedIn.
  • Engage Local
    Co-Founder & Cmo/Cfo/Cto
    Engage Local Nov 2018 - Aug 2023
    Orem, Utah, Us
I started Engage Local along with two other partners with the hope of providing a unique Customer Engagement and Reputation Management platform to small businesses of all kinds. To this new venture I brought startup capital, a comprehensive backend administrative platform, and a server stack to be used for the development of our own software.I was in charge of overseeing the development of our software, setting up all our infrastructure so we could operate and function from day-to-day, and handling all the ongoing operations, finances, online marketing, and administration of the business.Since we didn't have our own technology in the beginning, we decided to start by reselling another company's service. While this was going on, I was busy working with my developers to build our own technology. In just a short 8 months we were able to launch our MVP and migrate all of our existing customers over to our own proprietary platform. Shortly after this time we launched our own companion app on the App Store and Google Play Store to compliment our online application. In our first year of using our own proprietary software, we hit $650k in ARR. In the following year of business we grew that number to just over $1.2MM in ARR and our growth has continued month-over-month at a steady pace since then.In August of 2023 my ownership in this business was sold so I could go start my next venture!
  • Truhealth Physical Therapy & Wellness
    Co-Founder & Cfo
Truhealth Physical Therapy & Wellness Jun 2019 - Feb 2021
I co-founded TruHealth when a physical therapist friend of mine decided that he wanted to start his own clinic instead of working for another therapist. Although I had zero experience in the medical world I thought to myself, "how hard can it be?"We were starting from scratch on nearly all fronts so we had to setup everything anew. I immediately went to work finding office space, equipment, and setting up all the necessary infrastructure to operate as a physical therapist clinic. This included all the usual stuff a medical office needs such as phones, computers, software, patient intake forms, etc. but it also required special licenses, insurance coverage, and applying to medicare and all the other insurance providers in the area so that we could accept our patients' insurance plans and get reimbursed by them for our services.I taught myself how to do medical billing and established a seamless work-flow in the clinic to help maximize the number of patients we could see in a day. In just over 3 months we were able to start paying ourselves and after adding a few additional services in our second year we became quite profitable. After 2 years of helping to stand this business up and make it profitable, I sold my ownership and left the business to my partners to continue running it on their own.
  • Utah County Crossfit
    Co-Owner & Coo/Cfo/Cmo
Utah County Crossfit Jul 2016 - Mar 2018
I was brought on here to help revitalize this business and its shrinking membership. Within 1 week I was able to identify over a dozen changes that needed to take place related to operations, finances, and the administration of the business. I then got to work making those changes happen immediately. Within 1 month the business went from losing money each month to breaking even. Within 90 days I had re-worked the cash flow of the business in such a way that it allowed us to pay off all the company's debt. Within 4 months the company was profitable and the membership was on a steady rise. Presently Utah County CrossFit (now named Rock Canyon CrossFit) is a thriving small business and its focus has now turned to ongoing growth and member satisfaction. In March of 2018 I exited this business by selling my equity to another member but am still an active member of this gym and participate in the workouts 6 days a week without fail.
  • Ct&E
    Co-Founder & Cfo
    Ct&E Nov 2015 - Dec 2017
Helped take this company from a simple idea to a full-fledged business building natural gas stations in Utah, Georgia, Colorado, Washington, & Florida. Created processes for bidding, job-costing, and job-specific profit and loss calculations using quickbooks. Handled the drafting of contracts and agreements as well as negotiating favorable terms for our company in these contracts. Also established payment terms and relationships with our suppliers and vendors. Exited the company in 2017 after paving the way for my partners to take the company and do with it as they saw fit.
  • Ip Advertising & Promotions
    Coo/Cfo/Cmo
    Ip Advertising & Promotions Jun 2016 - Nov 2017
    Salt Lake City, Utah, Us
Agreed to join this company in order to help them resurrect their failing business from closing its doors. When I was first introduced to IP it had incredible sales of over 5MM annually, but was over 120 days behind on its payables and the operations, finances, and administration were in chaos. After 30 days of observation, I successfully identified the inefficiencies in their processes and the main points of failure with systems and personnel. I then got to work implementing all the necessary changes to fix what was broken. In the first 30 days I removed all unnecessary personnel. Within 60 days I eliminated the severe duplication of work by introducing a new management software system and establishing several new operational and administrative procedures; in 90 days I eliminated all the wasteful spending and helped our billing department get current on all client billing; in 180 days I had brought our outstanding payables under 60 days and paid down over 50% of the company's debt.In January 2017, we turned a major corner and I was able to help us turn our focus back to growth and productivity. At that time, my main focus with IP to monitor profitability and continue to work with our employees to keep improving our processes. I spent much of my time making sure every expense was accounted for properly and that our employees were provided with the systems and resources they needed to be as productive as possible. In November of 2017 after accomplishing all the goals I had set out to perform with resurrecting this business, I exited the company to pursue other opportunities. IP is still in business today and doing better than ever.
  • Omnetrix
    Founder & Ceo
    Omnetrix May 2011 - Sep 2017
I created Omnetrix with the vision of building a marketplace where advertisers and publishers could interact and do business together. Building upon software I had previously developed while at ForMedia, I created a robust online affiliate marketing platform that hosted dozens of top performing online campaigns for Advertisers and attracted a network of thousands of online Publishers. In just under 10 months we launched our MVP and signed up over 2 dozen Advertisers 1 week after launch.Later rebranded to Marketuity, we were a full service platform that hosted and tracked all aspects of our Client's campaigns we became uniquely positioned to analyze performance and optimize conversions and profits for our stakeholders. Hosting, managing, tracking, analytics, A/B and multi-variant testing, optimization, e-commerce, lead generation, data monetization, CRM, recurring billing, digital content delivery, electronic agreements, and domain/IP reputation management are just a few of the many features and benefits our platform offered to our Clients.By 2014 we reached over $6MM in annual revenue and continued to grow at a steady pace year-over-year until my exit in the Fall of 2017In addition to overseeing the operations and administration of the business, I remained in charge of the development of new features for our technology, and I also spent a considerable amount of time analyzing click behavior and conversion statistics to assist our clients with creating new content that eliminated points of failure and increased ROAS.
  • Formedia
    Founder & Ceo
    Formedia 2008 - 2011
ForMedia was the parent company of a handful of other smaller entities we started that engaged in online marketing services, e-commerce, lead generation, and data monetization. We accomplished these core services through the exploitation of a proprietary technology I had been gradually developing over the course of the past several years, as well as via a network of affiliate marketing relationships I established, and an internal telemarketing force that grew to be as large as 60 reps at our peek.My role at ForMedia was to oversee the further development of our software to fully automate and support all our core services and to manage all the finances, operations, and administration of our various companies that were under our ForMedia umbrella. In my time at ForMedia I became an expert at affiliate marketing, creating high-converting landing pages, monetizing all the collected data from our online campaigns, payment processing, writing of scripts for telemarketers, and the art of negotiating. I also further advanced my skills in finance, business law, human resources, marketing, operations, and directing the efficient development of software and technology. Annual revenue grew to over 10 million dollars in both 2009 and 2010 despite the ongoing recession, and in 2011 I successfully negotiated a rather complex deal wherein I sold my majority interest in ForMedia to my partners and left to pursue another startup.
  • J&A Funding
    Founder & Ceo
    J&A Funding 2006 - 2010
J&A Funding was a relatively small private fund that I started to invest in real estate, factoring, equipment, rare Utah and LDS artifacts, and the issuing of short-term loans. Handled all the due diligence, contracts, collateral, filing of liens, finances, taxes, legal matters, and negotiations. While the timing of this fund was not exactly ideal due to the recession that began in 2008, I still managed to double the overall value of the fund and gracefully exit all of our investments in order to close this fund out in 2010.
  • Supplierpromos
    Founder & Ceo
    Supplierpromos 2006 - 2008
SupplierPromos was created with the intent of helping vendors within the Promotional Products industry more easily and effectively market their products to the network of Distributors within the industry. To accomplish this goal I created one of the first email marketing technologies of its kind in just under 6 months and included with it access to an email list of over 500,000 Distributors which I had compiled in my previous venture, named Epromo. Not too dissimilar from MailChimp or a Constant Contact in today's world, SupplierPromos allowed vendors to create email advertisements via our design studio, upload a list of emails to send to - or pay extra to send to our internal list of 500k+ Distributors, and then run reports to see all the various analytics associated with their email blast after it had sent.SupplierPromos helped vendors increase their revenues by over 20% annually on average and was the first service of its kind for the Promotional Products industry. In 2 years we did just under $1MM in revenue and I sold my interest in SupplierPromos so that I could focus my attention on another more promising business I had started named ForMedia.During my time at SupplierPromos I furthered my experience in product development, user experience within software, business administration, online marketing, and sales.
  • Epromo Solutions Lc
    Founder & Ceo
Epromo Solutions Lc Apr 2001 - Oct 2006
    Us
Epromo was born with the idea of automating the Promotional Products industry by migrating the entire design and ordering process onto a full-featured website application. With this vision in mind I put everything on the line to create one of the first software-as-a-service (SaaS) technologies. Our software included a database of over 10 million customizable vendor products, an online drag-and-drop design studio, features for estimates, order processing, client/lead management, website management, billing/invoicing, and a full accounting component. Epromo's software was offered as a monthly subscription service, where everything was hosted on the web. At the time, this was a very new and scary concept for business owners and convincing them that their data was safe and secure proved to be no small task. We knew we were offering a better way though and now there's no going back. We were also able to create a spinoff of our software for the Real Estate industry and grow that arm of our business to over 100 employees and $12MM in annual revenue before selling it to a 3rd party company for an undisclosed amount. That "spinoff" was called Vermotion (short for Vertical Motion) and utilized many of the CRM features of our software, along with a website hosting and listing service for tens of thousands of hopeful real estate investors looking to buy, rent, and/or sell residential real estate properties. In my 5+ years at Epromo/Vermotion, I became very well-versed in managing the development of software and learning the do's and don'ts of a variety of different development styles and mindsets. We had as many as 15 servers at one time, including database, web, media, email, and others, along with over 50 million lines of code and some very intense redundancies. Our clients relied on our software to run their businesses from day-to-day, thus any kind of down time was just not an option. A liquidity event in our 5th year marked my exit from Epromo/Vermotion.
  • Adsprout
    Founder & Ceo
    Adsprout 1999 - 2001
AdSprout was founded to provide promotional products and logo merchandise to businesses of all types. As the owner, I handled all the finances, billing, vendor relations, administration, hiring/firing, product sourcing, and ensured that our clients' orders were being fulfilled according to their specifications and delivery dates. Coming up with concepts and ideas for our clients and then presenting those ideas for approval was a big part of what I did for my clients at AdSprout too. I was successful at landing big name accounts, such as Microsoft, Micron, IBM, several large universities, and multiple MLM companies in Utah and Idaho as well and quickly grew AdSprout to over $1MM in annual revenue in our second year. Then with the birth of a new idea to mixup the promotion products industry, I sold AdSprout in 2001 and started a new venture in technology.

  • The Kenaan Group
    Sales Associate
    The Kenaan Group 1997 - 1998
The Kenaan Group was a company that helped other businesses gain greater recognition through the use of promotional products and logo merchandise. I was hired on as a sales associate and began with zero clients and zero leads. Over the course of the 2 years that I was with this company I cold-called and met with just about every business within the surrounding cities and counties and grew my sales from zero to over 1 million dollars in just under 2 years. I learned how to source products for my clients, create estimates, orders, and purchase orders, and see the entire sales process through from concept to delivery. I also learned how to sell my clients on the merits of my capabilities especially when I had been outbid by a competitor. I did this by instilling the confidence of knowing that if they ordered from me, I would get the job done according to their specifications and their due dates every time. Initially they had to take my word for it, but they soon learned they could count on me and trust in my work ethic and attention to detail.Interacting with vendors one minute and my clients the next also taught me a great deal about the importance of staying organized and following up....always following up! This was also my first exposure to the finance side of business where I learned a great deal about Orders, Invoices, Purchase Orders, Gross Profit vs Net Profit, and general accounting.
