Since my initial field experience as a volunteer in 2017, the humanitarian field caught me and didn't let me go. It's been now five years that I've been working in the field in the Middle East, following the goal of trying to make a difference for others in this complex world.I always keep in mind this quote from Mother Teresa: "We know only too well that what we are doing is nothing more than a drop in the ocean. But if the drop were not there, the ocean would be missing something."After my volunteering experience in Syria for eight months in 2017-2018, I started to work with SOS Chrétiens d'Orient as a Deputy Head of Mission in Egypt beginning in 2019 for more than a year. I then worked as Head of Mission in Iraq during the COVID-19 crisis and in Lebanon, where I had to organize the humanitarian response after the explosion at the port of Beirut.At the end of the summer of 2020, I joined Syria as a Deputy Head of Mission after requesting this transfer to my direction, as I was engaged and now married to a Syrian.As a Deputy Head of Mission in Syria, my tasks are to implement sustainable projects through the management of a local and international team, the research of funding opportunities, the preparation of the budget, the contact with stakeholders, interventions in French mainstream media when necessary, and a lot more.My main achievements during these five years are:- The COVID-19 response in Iraq in 2020, where we helped hundreds of families to face this worldwide pandemic.- The response to the explosion at the port of Beirut in 2020 with rehabilitation, medical, and emergency help projects.- The response to the earthquake that struck northwest Syria in 2023 with emergency donations, rehabilitation, and psychological support.
