With $50 million of committed capital, I was one of three investment professionals at KBW Capital Partners, solely focused on financial services minority position investing. While there, I was responsible for managing all stages of the deal life cycle, from sourcing and initial due diligence to investment committee, analyzing more than 235 potential transactions totaling $2.6 billion in unique opportunities and completing multiple investments. I also served as a financial agent to the U.S. Treasury for its Capital Purchase and Automotive Industry Financing Programs, responsible for monitoring and valuing more than $17 billion in Treasury investments through proprietarily devised deliverables. Worked in the Financial Analytics and Structured Transactions (FAST) Group, where I provided extensive analytical support for the sales and trading desks on collateralized debt obligations through analysis of varying scenario cash flow model run results, ratings downgrades, and yield table analysis. I constructed the first Excel model of ratings downgrade migration analysis for hybrid (cash and synthetic) collateralized debt obligations to forecast future test coverage due to ratings downgrades, which became the standard template for the trading desk. Also created and updated models for cash and synthetic collateralized debt obligations, including bond and loan obligations in the primary and secondary markets, and collaborated with senior CDO structurers on enhanced Ariel (C++ derivative language) techniques to improve the accuracy of underlying collateral assumptions and cashflow predictions. Also headed up the team to coordinate efforts of the analyst group to review all structured finance CDS trades completed in prior years in preparation for the sale of Bear Stearns to JP Morgan; managed and directed team quickly and efficiently to complete work product hours ahead of schedule for review by potential buyers.
