About Jon Corbin
I built my first PC when I was about 14 after what seemed like far too many weeks of mowing neighbor's lawns to save up enough to build the best system I could. This system was highlighted by an i5-3570k, 8 GB of RAM, and a GTX 660TI. It wasn't even that great considering only a few months later the 4th gen cores came out and so did the 700 series graphics cards, but it was mine. After all those years of trying to game on my parent's PC, I finally had my own that I built. I took real pride in that. It was then that software came into view. Not only could I play video games at 1080p at medium to high settings (that was one heck of an upgrade at the time for me), but I could make it do magic by typing some instructions... I could make cool things. Since then, not only did I upgrade and rebuild that rig over and over, but I built a solid foundation of programming, and systems, and have found myself fascinated with the best question, "What else can I make it do?"Computers can do some amazing things from video games, computer vision, systems, networking, the cloud, information security, and the list goes on and on and on. It's quite a fascinating and fun field to be a part of and study. Lately, the world of the cloud has consumed me. Designing and implementing scalable, distributable systems is like a puzzle that constantly changes and is always fun. My background primarily focuses on Kubernetes and related infrastructure tools but in my off time, I like to create random things. If you'd like to see some of what I've been or have been working on then you can check my GitHub here - https://github.com/Jrc356As a Senior Platform Engineer at DispatchHealth, I led the design and migration to "Atlas", an in-house HIPAA-compliant Kubernetes platform based on AWS EKS that reduced infrastructure costs by more than 10x and enabled faster product iteration cycles and improved developer efficiency.
