- Consulted on various packaging, and imaging system work was in designing, developing and prototyping a disposable, sub-mm endoscope for a medical device start-up company;- Built and tested several working demonstration endoscopes for various applications. All the endoscopes were sub-mm with a working channel and micro-tooling;- Present in the operating room for surgery demonstrations of trigger finger release- The disposable nature of the device demanded significant performance versus cost engineering- Personally responsible for generating more than five patent disclosures concerning disposable micro-endoscope technology. The first has issued as US 8,942,530;- Designed, developed and built a prototype lens system for a cinema projector that incorporated an active element for altering the projected image.- Generated revenues of over $200,000 the first year of operation

- Personally designed and built a fully operational LD-MZM integrated transmitter which included: 60mW 1550nm, 5 ITU channel capable LD, wave-locker, isolator, VOA, power monitoring PD, 10GHz LiNbO3 modulator with dual traveling wave pre-amplifiers in one complete package;- Designed, constructed and documented a complete LiNbO3 MZM polishing process, fixture and optical pig-tailing station which was then transferred to our contract manufacturer's production floor;- “Clean sheet” design of a miniature Fiber Optic Gyro transceiver which included a high power SLD, optical circulator, receiver PD and trans-impedance amplifier;- Designed and built a direct modulation, 2 GHz mode-locked diode laser which employed grating feedback for wavelength selection an athermal package for frequency stability;- Part of the team which developed, patented and implemented a novel sub-micron shift laser and spot welding technique for optical free-space interconnects;- Principal inventor of the sub-micron shift, resistance spot welding technique that is the primary lens attachment method for all the Phasebridge products;- Project manager and Principal Investigator on the "Compact Submillimeter-Wave Sources and Detectors for Biological and Chemical Spectroscopy" S.B.I.R. ($70k) ;- Principal engineer on the D.A.R.P.A. MASC Compact Mode-locked Laser contract ($600k).
