Prior to this, I was the Assistant Deputy Minister of the Communications and Portfolio Sector at Natural Resources Canada. I have held executive positions at Treasury Board Secretariat, Health Canada, and the Public Health Agency of Canada.I have spent the majority of my executive career in the regulatory sphere, and am recognized in Canada and internationally for my expertise in regulatory policy and international regulatory cooperation to prevent barriers to trade. For my efforts at global collaboration in these areas, in 2020, Apolitical and the World Economic Forum named me as one of the inaugural recipients of the Agile 50 Award, which recognizes the 50 Most Influential People in the World Revolutionizing Governance. In 2019, I served as Chair of the OECD Regulatory Policy Committee - proudly, the first woman to hold this role. In 2018-19, I was invited to be a peer reviewer of governance structures for international regulatory cooperation in the UK & Mexico. I have also developed and run regulatory programs for controlled substances and natural and non-prescription health products at Health Canada. I have strong community roots, and am a fierce advocate of increasing the participation of girls and women in sport. I am a founding member of the University of Ottawa GeeGees Women In Sport Network and of the Community Cabinet of the Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group (OSEG) Foundation, both of which support the development of leadership skills for girls and women through their participation in sport. I have established a scholarship at the University of Ottawa to provide financial assistance to an athlete on a Women's Varsity Team. I am a mentor to athletes on the Ottawa GeeGees Women's Rugby Team. I am also a sports analyst and commentator; I appear regularly on local and national radio to discuss the Canadian Football League and I co-created, co-host and co-produce “Mouchoir: A REDBLACKS Podcast” about Ottawa’s team, the REDBLACKS.
