I love a good quote and there is none better than this one from Charlie Munger, the late great Vice chairman of Berkshire Hathaway. He once said “I think a life properly lived is just learn, learn, learn, all the time. I couldn’t agree more.I completed my first foray into post-secondary education when I was twenty-one and went straight into my chosen field of study. It was too soon for me to be dedicated to an office environment so after a couple years of selling travel experiences I went out and had one. The destination was Australia and what a twelve months that was. I returned home before the year 2000 and continued my progression toward a life in sales & service.From selling travel to financial products, working for a multinational logistics company, applying my radio broadcasting expertise in terrestrial and satellite ‘radio’….I have never stopped learning.Now to the past seventeen years with SwitchGear Ltd. Technically I'm the CFO but that sounds awfully official. I refer to myself as The Numbers Guy, but that’s kinda casual. The most accurate way to sum up what I do is label it Operational Leader / co-pilot. I am responsible for Technology, Accountants & Bookkeepers, Accounts Payable / Receivable, expense reconciliation, CRA (government), Legal, company travel and video/voice work. My days are always changing and I wouldn't want it any other way!
