In this role, I specialized in teaching the knowledge necessary to improve security defenses. My focus was on validating security controls, leveraging Cyber Threat Intelligence (CTI) for proactive threat hunting, and Enterprise Incident Response strategies. My courses were designed for beginners to advanced security practitioners, ensuring comprehensive knowledge transfer and skill development.In between training sessions, I engaged in high-impact red team exercises as a threat emulator within the Mandiant ThreatSpace program. Performed defensive cyber operations (DCO) tasks for a United States Air Force pilot Mission Defense and Cyber Defense Correlation Cell. This role required 24x7 monitoring of a critical communications network used to provide Command and Control over U.S. space assets. Using tools such as Manticore, LogRhythm, HBSS, Snort and Bro Network Analyzer, we ensured missions were conducted without foreign or domestic threat interference. The MDT was responsible for all protect, detect and response functions of modern day cyber security operations. In this role my skills in custom tool development and process automation were highly utilized to increase the department’s effectiveness while working around tight budgetary constraints.• Developed several custom tools to include a case management system and pcap collection tool• Created two procedures for interdepartmental communication, improving incident response capabilities• Awarded the first ever “Analyst of the Month” award recognizing activities that went “above and beyond”• Part of a team to construct the Operating Instruction for the new CDCC-S department• Integral in the development consulting of the new ELK based manticore system

Performed Tier II Defensive Cyber Operations (DCO) for the Missile Defense Agency Cyber Security Service Provider (CSSP). Continuously Monitored all network events into and out of the network to detect and respond to any situation which may threaten network security. This function encompassed full security stack devices to include Firewall operations, IDS, Content filters, Email Monitoring, and host based security products such as HIPS, anti-malware software and OS logs. Responsible for staying up to date with current cyber threats and identifying threat indicators for SIEM use. Also, responsible for directing response actions to TIER III per Incident Response Plan.• Automated 3 work center processes in 3 months, saving an estimated $75,000 in man hours per year.• Created a visual guide to represent complex threat indication rules, greatly improving staff understanding• Provided outstanding technical contribution to the team which lead to several organizational awards• Created a video training series on ArcSight SIEM operation to expedite new operator comprehension

This was a great position with a great company! Tachyon Networks was on the cutting edge of global Communications on the Move (COTM). A small company filling a huge need utilizing in house designed and partner designed components to build a highly effective and flexible global communications solutions. I learned a great deal from this position and my collegues at Tachyon; they added a lot of fuel to the fire that was my passion for IT!
