Currently engaged in developing the regional program towards activities that enhance climate resilient markets through the stages of assessment, recovery, rehabilitation and reconstruction in fragile areas. I have managed to:• Raise USD 900,000 in project funding around Emergency Response(ESNFI and CBI), WASH, Community Climate Change Resilience, Agribusiness and Food Systems as well as Livelihoods and Market Systems, in Kenya, Ethiopia and Somalia from UNHCR, FAO, BfTW among others.• Coordinate and monitor projects to develop material for various levels of audiences in a responsive manner, develop relevant ICT tools in the process.• Train and coach staff on aspects of project management and monitoring, market systems and community engagement towards climate and disaster risk assessment and management using the PACDR.

Overall oversight of livelihoods projects meant that I was responsible for the timely execution of projects funded by UNHCR, UNICEF, DANIDA-WSTF, FAO and ERC worth USD 5,000,000. Was also responsible for program design, development and resource mobilization, ensuring I built a team that would deliver goals and objectives. I managed to:• Ensure all projects closed on time and under budget, responding to donor queries in a timely and open manner; engaging them regularly on project progress through reports from weekly/monthly activities and routine assessments as well as calls when needed.• Contribute to program growth through successful bidding of projects from UNWOMEN, UNFAO and ERC towards women empowerment, agribusiness and entrepreneurship activities respectively worth over USD 2,300,000.• Train and coach staff on human centred design with subsequent management of the innovation process towards community relevant interventions.

With growing need to improve the sanitation situation in Turkana West Sub-County, I coordinated a UNICEF funded CLTS to Market Based Sanitation program worth USD 450,000, liaising with government officials for successful implementation. In addition to supporting staff management and proposal development, I managed to:• Coordinate smoothly with county government public health officials to develop implementation plan for Turkana West that led to over 70% of targeted villages declared as ODF.

Ensuring that this business development social enterprise, supported by IKEA and MasterCard Foundations, could expand operations and grow towards supporting refugee and host community businesses with skills and finance, I managed to:• Setup an office in Kakuma and provided leadership to the growing team in achieving targets as well as promoting the organizational culture. This was through regular one-on-one coaching sessions and mentorship to younger staff.• Build and maintain good relationships with stakeholders and clients, supporting external communication activities in other fora.

Engaged 21 water enterprises in a USAID funded project, KIWASH, to strengthen their ability to manage the water points and mobilize resources for rehabilitation and expansion where needed. Through this project I managed to:• Develop and execute a capacity building plan that ensured all the enterprises graduated from the incubation program with viable business models and bankable business plans. This improved capacity was demonstrated through improvements in governance, book keeping and customer service.• Facilitate and coordinate the rehabilitation of one enterprise through an investment of USD 80,000 to setup up a solar system, storage tank and piping to institutions and households.• Ensure county government participation and collaboration at all steps by developing schedules and joint workplans for sustainability. This enhanced continuity post-project period.

Entry into the humanitarian sector saw me manage the closure and transition of the USD 5,000,000 UK DFID funded SPARK Project; looking at how various Food Security and Livelihoods projects could be scaled for the benefit of the refugees and host community. I ensured that:• As we closed SPARK project, successfully implemented the USD 300,000 UNHCR Livelihoods project that saw funding pledge, after biding, increase to USD 500,000 for 2019. This was in addition to a USD 150,000 SGBV and women empowerment project already secured from UNHCR. A further USD 10,000 was secured from the USAID BPRM Julia Taft fund, through a proposal on business linkages for women tailors towards fashion and design.• The organisation was well represented in multi-stakeholder forums and recognised as a lead livelihoods agency, which enabled mutual partnerships with diverse organisations.• Program quality was enhanced through training, coaching and mentoring the teams on effective implementation in line with KPIs through a Kaizen approach. This had the effect of boosting morale and ensuring a motivated and mission driven workforce.

To enable the global PATH WASH team, understand the market potential for some products, my assignment was able to achieve the following:• Provided insights on various menstrual healthcare products across retails stores in select urban centres to advice entry of a menstrual cup.• Developed a business and financing plan for a water purification device targeting water kiosks in peri-urban areas.

The assignment involved aspects that led to increased funding for the 10-member organisations of the alliance in Kenya. These included activities around strategy development, relationship building and management as well as networking to develop proposals and bids for funding. Results achieved towards sustained funding for the alliance include:• An operational fundraising strategy that detailed how to engage in long term relationship building for different categories of potential funders.

As the local focal person for a USD 175,000 Mastercard funded project, I coordinated commercialisation efforts of the Community Chlorine Maker (SE200) through selected 20 water enterprises. Additional work under a USAID/APHIAPlus funded project saw me implement an economic strengthening strategy with community health units to promote entrepreneurship efforts towards sustainable income generating activities. Results, including from other duties assigned, were:• 28% increased revenue for the water enterprises through various business development efforts that saw them sell treated water at a premium. 2 enterprises secured finance through a partnership with Cooperative Bank, thereby driving expansion.• Over 100 community health units trained on table banking (VSLA) and linked to various entrepreneurial activities to realize a 40% return on their savings/investments as recorded on the global SAVIX MIS.• Increased representation and networking of the organisation in WASH advocacy and policy activities with the national and county government’s ministries and departments leading to adoption of KESH Policy and Framework, ODF Strategy as well as MHM and Jigger Management Policies.• Business development and partnership support that led to the mobilization of USD 62,000 from Ecozoom LTD for a last mile clean stove project as well as a private partnership with Envirofit LTD to strengthen the community health unit’s income generating activities in the clean energy sector. Over 2,000 units were sold.

Piloting the Peepoo toilet, my roles in this WASH social enterprise revolved around general management and coordination of the USD 500,000 project funded by Simavi. We were able to:• Provide affordable sanitation solutions to over 10,000 people having developed a market expansion strategy to cover the whole of Kibera.• Reduce time taken to do routine activities and thereby costs by over 30%. This involved a review and redesign of various office functions towards enhanced collaboration and supervision for field teams.• Support the sanitation value chain development through collaborating with University of Nairobi and some farmers to pilot high grade fertilizer, converted from waste collected.

An ICT for Education (ICT4E) social enterprise; my roles entailed coordinating staff to ensure importation and refurbishing of equipment, client acquisition, distribution, training and maintenance as well as general administration of the hubs. Key highlights include:• Ensured that 101 schools in Rwanda and Kenya had fully equipped computer laboratories and over 500 teachers had been trained to use the technology to enhance their pedagogy; while maintaining service contracts with the schools.• In Rwanda, successfully bid and implemented a USD 50,000, USAID/EDC funded youth empowerment project called ‘Akazi Kanoze’ reaching 100 Orphans with ICT and entrepreneurship training.• Set up a computer workspace with 50 stations all equipped with N-Computing technology for Bridge2Rwanda in their Kigali campus.

Executed customer instructions on time and accurately while supporting direct sales team by referring applications for loans and credit cards, with over 80% success rates. Earned recognition as outstanding customer service officer in Quarter 2, 2009.

Performed clerical and ICT duties while supporting compilation and submission of tenders that saw the organisation increase its revenue.

Compiled a critique on Kenya’s environmental policies by reviewing various sessional papers on climate change mitigation. Also designed and setup a new website and email for the team.
