Local Civics is an education technology platform devoted to re-imagining civic participation and engagement in our local communities. Local Civics uses a web and mobile-based platform to gamify civic participation for middle and high school students. Our platform also provides educators with opportunities to engage locally and build new technological skills, thus increasing their professional development and teaching capacities. Our digital platform integrates a culturally-competent civics framework with team-based learning to connect students and teachers to civic, cultural, volunteer, and recreational opportunities in their hyper-local community.

As a non-profit, 501(c)3 organization, Cayuga's Watchers has provided free and independent event supervision and bystander intervention education to the Cornell community for 5 years. Our student employees are extensively trained (and well paid!) to operate anonymously and non-confrontationally, keeping social events running smoothly and event-goers safe. "Watchers" are staffed for events at the expressed request of the host organization. Our model has been featured in The Washington Post, Huffington Post, & USA Today!We aim to become an established national model for combatting high-risk drinking by promoting peer social responsibility across college campuses. We are proudly a "harm reduction" model. We currently employ more than 100 students, and they have made more than 1,500 discreet interventions in aim of "keeping the party safe." Additionally, we have trained over 3,000 students to act in variety of risky situations.
