Formerly United Renovations, Katerra was founded in 1984 for the purpose of providing the commercial and multi-family real estate industries with a full spectrum of construction services. The majority of our efforts are directed toward the renovations of existing properties in order to extend their economic value and useful life. In 2000 our services expanded to include renovation, restoration, addition and new construction of buildings in the Multi-family, Senior Housing, Hospitality and Commercial industries. Katerra acquired United Renovations.

Responsible for Sales Team, growing Company sales 200% while increasing gross profit margin, and tripling customer base. Additionally, rebranded with new Catalog, Logo, and Marketing Collateral, including Custom Catalogs and Master Shops. Developed a competitive cross reference with sku’s and pricing to ensure consistent, competitive, and accurate sales proposals.

Responsible for every aspect of Company; a direct importer supplying interior building materials to customers in the Multifamily Sector. Traveled to Asia numerous times purchasing directly from manufacturers, and importing into United States, distributing to various Management Companies and General Contractors all across the country. Conducted or directed negotiations with Factory Owners overseas as well as well as domestic suppliers, thus maximizing gross profit margins. Lead sales team in selling kitchen and bathroom upgrades and renovations supplies, tripling sales over the course of 2 years. Lead Marketing efforts, rebranded with new website, logo, and all Marketing collateral. MRO acquired AiMSCO Supply in September 2009.

Start up of Horizon Purchasing Dept. in Dallas (August 2001) and Highland/Huntington Purchasing Dept. in Houston (May 2005). Responsible for the set-up of entire database of plans, takeoffs, budgets, files, and processes. Start up of Regional Estimating Department for all Divisions (January 2006) providing support for more than 120 communities and four different product levels and markets. Day-to-day purchasing responsibilities include negotiations, problem resolution, specifications, contract set-up and maintenance, and pricing and takeoff reconciliation with vendors and construction personnel. In charge of Program Outlines, Exit Strategies, Sales Pricing for all subdivisions, budgets, future proformas, competition studies, subdivision set-up, options pricing, takeoffs, contracts, and variances. Provide support to all Purchasing Divisions, holding regular meetings with each Purchasing Manager, and keeping all cities up to speed on the latest market trends, budgets, pricing, takeoffs, etc. Directly responsible for the recruiting and hiring of all purchasing employees, as well as many field staff. Special projects include: The set-up of Company-wide Graphic standards for all Horizon, Highland, and Huntington signage; organization of Company-wide Sales “Product Exhibition” and follow-up support including Intranet and DVD information for future training of Sales and Construction Staff; standardization of Options Change Order and Contract Specifications, Purchasing Coordinator training, Estimator training, major mechanical specifications, and service and emergency policies; and, supplying all builders with plan cutsheets, along with layouts in English and Spanish.

Manager in charge of five employees and responsible for budgets, subdivision set-up, options pricing, takeoffs, contracts, and variances. Oversaw all material takeoffs including field validation, value engineering, analyzing variances, and maintenance of all data in AS400. Responsible for all takeoff options and customer options involving set-up, AutoCAD drawings, price requests, and option pricing manuals to Construction personnel and Sales. Reviewed and preserved all budgets for accurate pricing and PO’s. Liaison to architects regarding all plans, redlines, check sets, and revisions. Responsible for purchasing duties including negotiations, problem resolution, plans and specifications, contract set-up and maintenance, and pricing and takeoff reconciliation with vendors and construction personnel. In conjunction with President, developed designs for new homes and models. Special projects included assisting in building CEO’s 19,000 SF personal home, conversion of all plans to 11X17 formats, Production Action Team, and writing an estimating package on Excel. Other projects included corporate office expansion and setting up budgets, options set-up, and plan review processes for newly acquired home building company and other divisions. In addition, developed an estimating manual, options pricing manual, and established new processes that were put into place as a training modular for all divisions.

Responsible for new home and customer special estimates including lumber, trim, hardware, and brick. Set-up entire database in AS400 including the item master, budgets, takeoffs, contracts, and vendor pricing. Assisted in rolling out new purchase order system. Prepared new starts for purchase orders and generated budgets. Bid and budgeted more than 15 new communities and bid out several existing subdivisions. Responsible for developing safety program and maintaining OSHA and EPA compliance. Responsible for various purchasing responsibilities including meeting with vendors, negotiating prices, modifying specifications, and extensive price comparison reports. Involved in estimating and designing redlines and value engineering. Trained new estimators.

Scheduled material delivery and subcontractors. Responsible for surveying and layout of subdivision. Supervised utility layout and lot benches.
