My duties for this role include:• Networking and meeting with potential clients• Co-designing project scope with clients• Writing applications for competitive funding e.g. Innovation Partnership programme• Project management• Technical research• Stakeholder engagement• Schedule management• Budget ManagementMy project portfolio to date has included:• Design of AM orthoses for veterinary applications• Conformal cooling for injection moulding• Lightweighting of robot end effectors• Lightweighting of hydraulic valves• Design of nasal vaporiser for sleep apnoea• Design of blood sample transportation solution for drone travelI am currently working on a project relating to the design of AM anatomic models for surgical pre-planning. Stakeholders for this project include an Irish Manufacturer of AM models and two Irish Hospitals.

My key acheivements for this role include:• Establishing a structured Quality Assurance process within the department in line with Univeristy and IMechE regulations.• Mentored team through online exam implementation during COVID-19 pandemic• Member of the Engineering, Phsyics and Science Delivery Group• Liaised with timetable team and teaching team to build a socially distant timetable which was appropriate for staff and students during COVID-19 pandemic

This was varied role that involved guiding tutorials and providing technical support across CAD, CAM, 3D printing, and 3D scanning technologies. The modules that I supported included:• Advanced 3D CAD• Digital Fabrication Skills• Mechanics for Design• Prototyping for Design Durring this role I facilitated 3D scanning of student models and 3D printing of student parts for for various projects. I also mentored a final year student for their design project relating to my reasearch interests.

Loughborough

This was a project that aimed to identify the aspects of running gait that effect running economy of 10km runners. The study captured data from 97 runners, both male and famle, with a wide range of ability. I collected data for this study as my M.Sc. dissertation was linked to this project. My role included:• Placement a 56-marker set on participants• Collecting Motion Capture data• Collecting video data of each trial• Processing trials for participants at multiple running speeds

Clontarf, Dublin, Ireland

This was a six month placement working in a clinical gait lab in the Central Remedial Clinic in Dublin. The clinic while specialising in children with cerebral palsy treated patients with all levels of physical disability. The gait lab unit consisted of three physiotherapists, an orthopaedic surgeon and a biomedical engineer. When patients visited the lab, they first underwent a physical assessment, they would then have a lower limb marker set and EMG probes placed on them and have their gait recorded. Where the patient had walking aid, such as ankle-foot orthoses, trials would be recorded with and without the aid to determine how effective these were. Patients were reviewed each week with the entire team where the patients gait, progress, walking aids and possible surgical interventions were all discussed. Where orthoses were manufactured in house, the clinician who made them would also be present.
