Systems architect, project manager and engineer, mostly building full-stack apps running on Linux-based systems. Decades of experience in online and web tech all the way from your little corner shop website right up to sites supporting hundreds of thousands of users on database footprints approaching 150TB. More backend than frontend. Cut my teeth writing 6502 on BBC Micros, ran an ISP and a domain registry in the 90s. Now I work for a marine technology company building process management tools, CRM systems and production line schedulers mainly using PHP, Laravel, MariaDB, Mongo, Bootstrap and node.Because of all that experience, I've a record of getting parachuted in to bring planning and business continuity. Happy at the development coalface just as much as talking to upper management about long-term strategy, building greenfield projects as much as fixing old ones up - I'm flexible.Other stuff I've done: basic financial modelling, personnel management and training, project management and operational skills, pre-sales pitching and presentations, after-sales care, marketing and public relations, and product development.Prefer Apple for desktop, Linux for servers. I believe in the right tool for the right job and won't get prissy about tech if it works for you. Worked with computers since I was 7, had my first game published at 8 (for the ZX81), and had an unhealthy obsession with 8-bit computers throughout the 1980s. I still have a loft full of BBC Micros.I'm to-the-point when I need to be, easy-going when I don't. I get quite a lot of repeat work from previous clients, which is nice.I do various bits of things for community interest including Wakefield Artwalk, and I'm part of various community groups. When not staring at an IDE, I play piano, sing, record and perform. Look up "The Bleeding Obvious" if you'd like to know more. Send me a message if you're interested in booking me for your event, Pride, festival, venue or whatnot. I'm an Equity member and have been on TV and radio in various capacities. As a sideline I run a mobile disco (mostly for fun) under "Mrs R's Retro Roadshow", playing vinyl on a late-70s setup consisting of equipment I've restored.Being a lesbian I campaign for LGBTQ+ rights and live in Wakefield with my wife, assorted offspring, three cats and a snake.
