•Management of community mobilization research protocol, supported by the National Institute of Health (NIH), Adolescent Medicine Trials Network (ATN).•Directed daily operations of youth project including: client services, performance reports, budgeting, grant proposals, project activities and events.•Supervised and trained case managers, youth advocates, and outreach staff.•Achieved highest recruitment and retention of protocol subjects in Phase I and II of protocol.•Managed an annual venue based HIV rapid testing and HIV risk assessment and linkage to care.•Sustained a Youth Community Advisory Board of HIV positive youth to empower youth to become knowledgeable about HIV and STDs, self-advocacy, research and to become active peer advocates within their social and sexual networks.•Established a collaboration and infrastructure of over 270 health providers, social service agencies, and other community-based organizations to support national research agenda.•Created annual epidemiological maps for HIV, Chlamydia, Syphilis, Gonorrhea, homicide, and homelessness in Broward County to identify high-risk populations, and to target gaps community level interventions•Chaired a community-based coalition within South Florida geared towards the reduction of HIV among adolescents. •Served on the Broward County Sheriffs Council for Improving Community Relations. •Hired, trained and managed project assistants and outreach staff for Connect to Protect and the Adolescent Trials Network – 8-staff members.
