As the Assistant Director for Market Oversight and Integrity in the Office for Digital Identities and Attributes, I lead policy and delivery that supports the development of the digital identity market in the UK. My teams build and maintain the infrastructure that creates trust in digital identity and attribute services.I am responsible for:1. Strategic governance; leading a team that monitors the developing market and provides insight across the wider digital identity programme to continuously improve what we are doing to support the market.2. Digital delivery; I am the service owner for a new GOV.UK register of trusted digital identity and attribute services, currently in private beta.3. Certification; developing and maintaining the UKAS-recognised certification scheme that underpins the market. 4. Security, fraud and threat intelligence; drawing in insight from industry and across government to keep the ecosystem and the public safe from threats as the market develops.I directly manage around half a dozen staff, and have operational responsibility for a multi-million pound annual budget.This is a Civil Service Grade 6 (or Band A(U)) role.

I led the creative design, digital, and operational delivery, for the UK’s first global LGBT rights conference. In this role I was responsible for a matrix managed team of around a dozen civil servants across two departments, and a significant number of outsourced contract staff. I also had delegated responsibility for the conference’s production, digital and security budget.The conference was unfortunately cancelled in April 2022, leading me to search for new opportunities.

I led the Telecommunications (Security) Bill team to successfully deliver a piece of legislation through Parliament. The Telecommunications (Security) Act 2021 received Royal Assent in December 2021.I provided advice to teams across the department about how to navigate parliamentary, policy and government processes to ensure the Bill completed its passage successfully. In this role, I regularly worked closely with ministers and senior officials to ensure the Bill could be delivered on time and aligned to the government's policy objectives.This role was a Civil Service Grade 6 (or Band A(U)).

In this role I led a team delivering the government’s LGBT Action Plan. I led on policy areas focusing on ending conversion therapy, hate crime and domestic violence, and supporting LGBT sector development. I also led the programme management function for the overall programme.Major projects and publications in this period included authoring the Annual Progress Report on the LGBT Action Plan, commissioning research into the experiences of those who have undergone conversion therapy in the UK, and designing and commissioning several large scale grant programmes, including the LGBT Sector and Community Development Scheme and LGBT Health and Social Care Fund.

In this role I led a team responsible for improving outcomes for people who were lesbian, gay, bisexual or who had another minority sexual orientation. As part of this role, I led strategy and policy development relating to sexual orientation issues, and was the lead policy official for civil partnerships and same-sex marriage.Major projects and publications included authoring the UK Government's LGBT Action Plan (July 2018), developing the National LGBT Survey (July 2017), and delivering the government's flagship anti-homophobic, biphobic and transphobic bullying programme.A team restructure following the publication of the LGBT Action Plan in 2018 saw me take up a new role in the team with a different remit.

In this role I provided policy and operational advice to GDS’s Director of Digital. I worked closely with senior officials and ministers to shape policy relating to digital service delivery in government.Major projects and publications included leading policy development for the UK government's position on the EU Directive on the accessibility of the websites and mobile applications of public sector bodies, and deliver managing the discovery phase of a new digital operations function within GDS.

In this role I provided operational support and advice to GDS’s Chief Operating Officer. I worked closely with his senior team to run the core support functions for the organisation across finance, HR and IT. I also led special projects on behalf of the COO.I was promoted to Senior Digital Adviser (Civil Service Grade 7) in September 2015.
