I've been in field mapping, including environmental, utility asset, and HD road mapping since 2000. I have managed teams of hundreds of mapping crews in the oil and gas industry, and managed mapping efforts for very large incidents, including hurricane Katrina and the BP Gulf of Mexico oil spill. Between 2019 and 2023 my main function in my role as VP Of Field Operations for Voxelmaps, and as a Field Ops Director, Global at TechMahindra was running field mapping fleet operations in North America, under a contract with one of the largest tech companies in the world. My team managed all aspects of mapping operations for the fleet of 100+ photo/lidar mapping cars, accross the United States and Canada. We employ a team of around 200 people, and map approximately 1,000,000 unique KMs of road infrastructure each mapping seasonI now act as Field Operations Director and VP of Field Mapping Operations for Voxelmaps, where we are building 'maps for machines', leveraging large teams operating state of the art sensors and measurement devices, to collect field data for a variety of large clients. We also provide our Symbo Duo sensor device, which incorporates RGB and Lidar data collection in a portable, affordable package, lowering the barriers to entry in this burgeoning field.
