About José Rubén Pérez Domínguez

PhD in Mechanical Engineering with 12 years of experience in energy, specially in thermal-hydraulic, processes, system simulation and safety analysis. I have developed my professional career in engineering in electric power plants: mainly in nuclear, but I have also worked in solar thermal power plants, combined cycle, as well as in advanced projects such as ITER.I am currently working in Westinghouse Electric Company as Senior Engineer in the Systems and Safety Analysis department. I have worked for 9 years in Empresarios Agrupados in the mechanical department as a specialist engineer in thermal-hydraulic applications, in processes and system modeling.I started working for two years in the design of thermal and fluid systems in nuclear projects, as well as in the creation of the CFD calculation group.Subsequently, I worked for more than two years in the Centralized Interim Storage Facility (Joint Venture Westinghouse-Ghesa-Técnicas Reunidas) as responsible for thermal analysis for the design and license of spent nuclear fuel cooling systems.From 2017 to 2022 I worked as a Senior Mechanical Engineer in the thermal-hydraulic, Processes and Simulation section, mainly performing the following functions:- Responsible for several thermo-hydraulic calculations of NPP systems.- Support for the operation of NPP Trillo and NPP Almaraz- Safety analysis and licensing, mainly spent nuclear fuel- Advice to other disciplines in thermal and fluid systems- Specifications, sizing and performance evaluation of systemsFrom 2020 to 2022, I was responsible for the selection and management of scholarship / internship in the mechanical department (group of 10-12 people).For the last 6 years, I have been a lecturer at ICAI (Comillas Pontifical University). I have taught the full contents of Fluid Mechanics, Heat Transfer, Energy Engineering and Thermodynamics. I also teach Multiphysics Simulation (CFD section) and several laboratory lessons.Finally, it should be noted that I have worked for a year at Aciturri Aeronáutica in Industrialization and Maintenance and a year and a half in R&D at the University of Valladolid, simulating HVAC and turbo-machines using CFD.I have demonstrated the ability to work successfully both in different environments such as international and multidisciplinary work teams, as a specialist for various projects, in R+D projects, in plant or directly with the client.
