RESEARCHOversees the research abstract review process and selection of small grant and research award recipients for the association. Coordinates the research science teams and the dissemination of research related information, including the presentations at local and national conferences and the annual meetings. Coordinates multi-site research based practice projects. Liaises with private organizations and public agencies to advance the research objectives of the organization. Supports constituents in meeting regional, local and individual needs related to research and implementation of evidence based care. Works in collaboration with business development staff to recommend external funding sources for research activities and provide grant writing assistance on designated grant proposals as needed. POLICYDirects the association’s public policy efforts, including monitoring relevant issues, research and writing official documents and other communications. Develops and implements strategic and operational plans related to research and government affairs. Works with the Board of Directors to develop the association’s federal legislative and policy agenda and develops and implements strategies to achieve this agenda. Represents the association in person and in writing to federal government officials, regulatory bodies, corporate/industry public partners, and allied organizations to advance association’s legislative and regulatory agenda. Monitors, researches, analyzes, and disseminates relevant information on legislation and regulations affecting nursing and the health care of women and newborns. Directs and communicate progress of legislative initiatives to the association membership through reports, updates, newsletter articles, and in-person briefings at association meetings and elsewhere. Oversees the preparation of federal legislative fact sheets, issue briefs, testimony, proposals, letters, and memos.
