Ground level member of a small and talented team. Stirplate.io launched in mid 2015 as a cloud based next generation sequencing analysis platform. I developed a fully automated RNAseq pipeline using FastQC, Tophat/STAR, Samtools, and DEseq. This was programmed in python with statistical R programming integrated by rpy2. These services were built into Docker containers that could be spun up when work was ready to be consumed. The application relied upon RabbitMQ as a publisher/subscriber durable work messaging service. I became responsible for development and maintenance of the Stirplate API built with python and the falcon framework to use a Postgresql DB, Redis annotations data store, Redis query caching, and AWS S3 data storage. I also laid the groundwork for developing similar protocols for de novo RNAseq with Trinity and genotyping with ddRADseq. Facilitated development of automated genotyping by GATK and Tassel3. This was a remote position with constant interactions through Google Hangouts and Slack. I also communicated directly with our customers and potential clients.
