In charge of the Chief Computer Technology Section for the National Center for HIV, STD, and TB Prevention (NCHSTP), now referred to as NCHHSTP. Directed and participated in the formation of Center policies and procedures affecting existing/new policies and principles/procedures; assured adequate management of information resources to meet the Center’s short and long-term IT objectives. Provided guidance, coordination, and approval of all major IT investments as it pertained to infrastructure, hardware, software and consolidated acquisition strategy. ➣ Represented the NCHSTP on multiple CDC-wide IT Committees in the areas of planning, policy, budget, and strategic direction.➣ Chaired the local NCHSTP Governance Committee; set IT standards, garnered support, and sought consensus on IT investments to secure funding from the NCHSTP/OD and Division Directors. ➣ Established the first distance-based Graduate Certificate Program for PHAs in collaboration with Emory University, John Hopkins University, Tulane University, and The University of Washington.➣ Selected by peers to be the Co-Chair of the CDC Chief Technology Officer Council (CTOC), to help drive vital decisions for IT systems, major investments, standards, and setting strategic/tactical directions. ➣ Recognized the need for disaster recovery and continuation of operation plans; subsequently Co-Chaired the workgroup in the establishment of a “Hot-Site” for the CDC (before 9/11).➣ Introduced, led R&D, and implemented the first Microsoft SQL server at the CDC which is still the CDC standard relational database server for business systems.➣ Spearheaded the introduction of IPTV to the desktop for all hands/scheduled meetings and on-demand programming.
