I'm a movement leader with over 20 years of non-profit experience, specializing in the stuff it takes to turn online engagement into offline action, digital media into direct advocacy, and new relationships into productive partnerships. I'm also a Southerner committed to the fight for social justice across my home state of North Carolina and the South. I joined Common Cause NC in 2022 as the organization's Associate Director. Prior to this role, I was Southern Coalition for Social Justice’s Communications Director and before that Democracy North Carolina's Campaigns Director — supervising each pro-democracy organization's branding and communications work, digital efforts, resource production, and training, and work with internal teams and external partners to coordinate key campaigns and programs. I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a B.A. in Anthropology, earned my J.D. cum laude from North Carolina Central University’s School of Law, and am a member of the North Carolina State Bar. A native of rural Eastern North Carolina, I am proud to have worked with various N.C.-based organizations, including Equality NC, League of Women Voters of NC, NARAL Pro-Choice NC, NC AIDS Action Network, and NC NAACP. Honors include the ACLU of NC’s Sharon Thompson Award for Courageous Pursuit of Equal Rights for LGBTQ North Carolinians, Blueprint NC’s Trailblazer Award, and Qnotes Carolinas Statewide LGBT Leader of the Year Award.
