About Juan Camilo Sandoval Vasco

For seven years, I have had the great opportunity to listen and learn about community realities in different regions of Colombia, which has allowed me to deeply connect with my vocation for community service and to strengthen essential soft skills such as active listening and assertive communication in Spanish, English, and French. Additionally, I have gained experience in managing and strengthening grassroots community development processes through co-creation and implementation of community engagement strategies, resource/grants procurement and management, establishment of multisectoral partnerships, and application of tools for Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, Research and Learning (MEARL) in public and humanitarian sector projects.Currently, I lead communication and intersectoral coordination strategies in four regions of Colombia (Caquetá, Chocó, Putumayo, and Vaupés), with the purpose of reducing information gaps with ethnic communities (Indigenous and Afrocolombian), grassroots organizations, and communities affected by the pandemic, fostering dialogue spaces around critical issues such as mental health, sexual and reproductive health, health rights restoration for LGBTIQA+ populations, and gender-based violence (GBV), among other public health matters exacerbated during the pandemic.
