Trained in internal affairs protocols for law enforcement officers, civil rights, and city policy related to unnecessary and/or excessive use of force. Provided civilian oversight of police including reviewing complaints from the public and referrals from internal affairs. Based on this review and deliberative process, the board issued recommendations of discipline to the Chief of Police as appropriate.

Drafted discovery requests, reviewed document productions, drafted motions, prepared for depositions, corresponded with opposing counsel, and assisted at trial. Managed firm’s client intake and incoming “cold calls” from prospective clients. Utilized LexisNexis to research legal questions and check citations for appeal briefs.

Conducted research on the use of animals in science. Researched and reviewed records related to the deadly and invasive experiments on monkeys at Neuralink. Helped coordinate records requests to dozens of states regarding permits for the capture of wildlife for use in laboratory experiments. Conducted scientific literature reviews regarding the use of animals in experiments and alternative non-animal research modalities.

Oversaw and directed the activities of this grassroots non-profit animal protection organization. Worked with members of both political parties to advance successful legislative efforts at the state and local level to end the use of horse-drawn carriages, exotic animal performances in circuses, and gas chamber euthanasia in animal shelters. Co-directed Utah's largest all-vegan festival. Greatly expanded the membership & supporter base of the organization. Fostered partnerships with other community NGOs in Utah for community service projects to directly help people and animals.

Investigated the use of animals in experimentation at laboratories across the United States and developed effective organizational strategies aimed at ending abusive practices. Filed public records requests through state law and the federal Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and assisted counsel in litigation where necessary. Identified deviations from federal animal welfare laws and assisted in gathering evidence, drafting complaints, and following up with regulatory authorities to ensure compliance. Ensured factual accuracy and sourcing for the organization's written materials related to the use of animals in science. Represented the organization in media interviews and in front of government bodies. Worked closely with colleagues in Legal, Communications, Development, and Marketing to advance objectives of the organization.

Extensively researched the historical and current trends related to the use of dogs (beagles) in laboratory experiments. Researched, wrote, and published the article "Radioactive Beagles," on the historical origins of the use of beagles in experiments. Developed and led the organization's award-winning public awareness "Identity Project" campaign, which empowered supporters to submit state open records requests to tell the stories of individual beagles used in laboratory experiments. Worked with counsel to pursue successful open records litigation against a flagship public university for violating state law to conceal its use of beagles in deadly experiments.
