What I do: Building and leading teams to design and engineer software systems. I love to design, code, test and deploy software solutions that make people's lives easier (especially my own). I love to build and lead effective teams that provide solutions for our customers. Experience matters. Sometimes it is not only knowing what to do but also what not to do.Since 1991, I have developed software systems. Since 2012, I have been leading teams to make amazing software solutions that solve problems and take away the client's pain. I have built teams from the ground up by hiring and developing incredible talent. So what makes me different? Creativity - I am creative. I am an artist as well as a technologist which gives me a creative advantage.Longevity - I started doing this in the 10th grade of high school and have never stopped. I am in it for life.Mentoring - I don't just say I can mentor, I have taught computer classes at the college level. I have taught music (guitar). I have taught martial arts. I have had to figure out how to reach people in different ways.Communication - Because of my teaching experience, I have learned how to communicate ideas (technical or otherwise) to many different types of people, including business people and clients.Business - I am a technologist, but I understand the business side of things and can bridge the gap.Team Builder - Experience building effective, talented and happy teams.Hands On - I can code. I can't guide others to build great software if I can't do it myself. Humility - I do not think I know it all. My goal is to hire really smart people and then listen to them. Sometimes my idea wins, sometimes theirs does. What matters is that the right idea wins.Social - I appreciate positive culture and enjoy group activities with co-workers. Many technologists are not like this.Teachable - I am constantly trying to learn new things. I want to further my craft. Not just a Job - I do this for fun even when I am not being paid. Out of the Box thinker - More than just problem solving - I have many examples of how I have looked for and achieved efficiency gains and ways of automating processes. Can Do - I see every problem as something I am capable of solving. It might take some learning and research but I can solve anything.
