Customer Excellence (CE) betreft een samentrekking van 'Customer Focus' en 'Operational Excellence', een benadering waarbij wordt gestreefd naar een zo efficiënt en effectief mogelijk productie- of adviesproces, waarbij de klant als uitgangspunt geldt. CE combineert facetten van Lean en Six Sigma. Om tot een lean dienstverlening te komen is de doelstelling het minimaliseren van verspilling, het minimaliseren van de variatie van de output (standaardafwijking) en de maximale afstemming van het aanbod op de vraag (flexibiliteit). Daarnaast worden afdelingen doorgelicht en ondersteund op het vlak van gedragsverandering en vindt begeleiding en coaching plaats van operationeel management. Gedurende een kwartaal wordt een organisatie-onderdeel doorgelicht, waarbij de fases diagnose, ontwerp en implementatie worden onderscheiden.
