Embedded with DND Directorate Supply Chain Operations (DSCO). Supporting DSCO and Director Materiel Policy and Procedures in implementing DND's S1000D policy framework for the technical publications required for operating and supporting DND/CAF equipment. This includes supporting the implementation of S1000D for various Navy, Air Force, and Army projects. The role demands a high level of proficiency in S1000D, DND policy, and complex technical writing.S1000D implementation will improve DND/CAF operations by increasing standardization and consistency, enhancing collaboration and information sharing, boosting security, reducing costs, accelerating decision-making, and improving fleet and equipment readiness.

Coordinated strategic and due diligence environmental assessments for the Department of National Defence's Maritime Equipment Program. Our group's goal was to enhance the Maritime Equipment Program's environmental sustainability. Key projects included the modernization of Victoria-class submarines, the procurement of naval support vessels, and the development of new technologies to reduce the risk of sonar operations on marine mammals.Core responsibilities included:Communicated with Department of National Defence project managers, subject matter experts, and other stakeholders to streamline the environmental assessment process;Drafted, reviewed, and revised environmental assessment documents, incorporating feedback from diverse stakeholders while ensuring compliance with International, Canadian, and US environmental legislation (i.e. Oceans Act, Fisheries Act, Species at Risk Act).

S1000D & Technical Publications: Reviewed over 5000 pages of Halifax-class frigate manuals to understand equipment function and servicing. Broke manuals down into smaller independent units of information in a way that aligns with the navy's digital transformation objectives and maximizes usability and accessibility of technical content.Training: Led more than 100 technical editing, agile, Captain's Ship's Books, and S1000D training sessions for publications team members since the beginning of 2021, contributing to building up a junior 6 member team into a more established 15 member team.Agile: Recognized as our company's Agile Champion of the Month for July 2021. PMI Agile Certified Practitioner since November 2021. Agile Scrum Master for publications team of 12 members from June 2021 to May 2022.Captain's Ship's Books Subject-Matter Expert: Prepared Captain's Ship's Books, binders describing a ship's characteristics and history, for four Halifax-class frigates. Coordinated project logistics for this complex work involving dozens of steps, eight team members, intensive security protocols, and several months of effort. Quality controlled the books to ensure content aligned with Department of National Defence's requests.Security Officer: NATO Secret Security Cleared. Appointed as Alternate Company Security Officer in May 2022, a role ensuring our company meets the security requirements of federal government contracts.Occupational Health & Safety: Mental Health First Aid trained (May 2022). Fire warden for Irving's Bluenose Building in Dartmouth since March 2021. St. John Ambulance First Aid trained (March 2023).

Environmental Impact Assessments: Evaluated environmental impacts associated with agricultural development in NL; Collected water and soil samples at 18 sites nearby existing agricultural operations; Analyzed surface water data for 69 pesticides, phosphate, nitrogen, BOD, pH, TDS, temperature, conductivity, and turbidity; Assessed efficacy of best management practices in minimizing environmental impacts; Prepared technical reports with recommendations for future developments.Laboratory Analysis: Mehlich 3 extractions for macronutrient and micronutrient analysis of soils; Hydrometer procedure for testing soil texture; pH and organic matter determinations; Soil particle size distribution analysis (sieve analysis); Sample preparation; North American soil test summary preparation for International Plant Nutrition Institute.Soil Surveying: Assisted Soils Specialist in conducting soil surveys in the field, determining suitability of soils for agricultural development.

Climate Monitoring: Monitored and collected data from network of 12 climate stations throughout Northern B.C. to track freshwater resources and climate change in the region; Repaired damaged climate stations and got them back online; Assisted in installation of a new climate station; Downloaded data and verified all climate sensors were functioning correctly.Watershed Monitoring Project: Installed 9 piezometers (groundwater monitoring devices), 3 precipitation gauges, and 2 soil temperature probes; Conducted snow surveys at open, closed, and mixed vegetation sites; Performed troubleshooting with climate station power issues; Coordinated field trips with stakeholders.Quality Control: Quality controlled data for Air Temperature, Relative Humidity, Snow Depth, Wind Speed, Wind Direction, Soil Temperature, Soil Moisture, Solar Radiation, and Precipitation.

At one of North America's largest vehicle processing and transshipment facilities, I contributed to the handling of nearly 185,000 vehicles per year; performed thorough quality control processes to ensure vehicles met standards set out by BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Volkswagen; loaded vehicles on trains to be shipped across Canada; handled vehicles valued at $200,000+.
