About Joep Van Der Heiden
In December 2017 I set a goal to run a marathon trail run after I had just found out that I could not even complete a 2k run. 4.5 months later, 1 day after and without celebrating my birthday, I finished that race. With a singular focus and my organized approach, I realize results independent of conditions or status.After completing Psychology university, I quickly found out that I take more joy in finding than searching and it was time for a career switch which led me to start as junior support engineer at vidaXL. I got the chance and freedom to learn as much as I could process. My broad self-learned IT background in programming and hardware, combined with my work experience in IT-support formed a solid base upon which I kept stacking new knowledge.After 2 years and managing some bigger projects, I got a chance to set up and run my own team in Bucharest, Romania. Without any serious management skills, I set out to work on this huge challenge, applying the same focus and utilizing my learning capacity to its maximum. 2 years later I delivered a mature and independently running team ready for the future. I helped to implement IT operations processes and laid foundations for others. In the years after that I trained and coached more than 100 IT professionals helping them become a better version of themselves or even manage their own teams.Spending some years in Romania led to me falling in love with the beautiful Romanian nature. Unfortunately I was also confronted with how poorly people treat it. In 2021 I got the opportunity at DDQ to participate in EU funded projects that value sustainability. By making it possible for anyone with a smart phone to gather data on the surrounding world hopefully in time we will (help) make the world more environmentally conscious and healthier for everyone.
